JULIE MORANDINI PHOTOGRAPHY

I've not been everywhere yet, but it's on the list!

Hello and welcome to my page. I'm Julie, an amateur photographer who enjoys capturing the scene, exploring new places and connecting with new people. On this page, I've shared a few adventures and hope you enjoy viewing my photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

FIVE EXCITING DAYS IN SEOUL

In late July 2024, a good friend invited me to join her on a once in a lifetime trip to Manila and Seoul in August where I had the good opportunity to combine my passion for travel and photography with my love for Korean Actor Ji Chang Wook. Here I share some snapshots of JCW's Revolver stage greetings and megatalk in Seoul plus sightseeing images of the City, Changdeokgung, Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon Hanok Village, Namsan Tower and the Han River. I can't wait to go back and spend some more time in this amazing and vibrant city. This section is a work in progress.

KONNICHIWA JAPAN

In 2024, I visited Japan for the first time with my sister and a friend. Our trip consisted of a 12 day cruise on the Norwegian Spirit and six nights in Tokyo. Here's a snapshot view of our trip with images from the cities, countryside and ports that we visited.  This section is a work in progress.

LET'S EXPLORE WESTERN AUSTRALIA

During the pandemic years when Western Australia's borders were closed, I spent some time exploring our beautiful state and visited Karratha, Exmouth, Broome and Albany, and even had a opportunity to visit Darwin in the Northern Territory. I have chosen a selection of my favourite images to share with you.

ABOUT ME

I’m Julie, an amateur photographer who lives in the most isolated city in the world - Perth, Western Australia. I’m the type of person who’s always keen to grab the camera, explore new places and connect with people, however I’m easily distracted by a breathtaking view or a stunning sunset! I like to learn different types of photography but find myself drawn to travel and nature the most.

My fascination with photography started in my teen years when I received my first 110 camera. Over the  years, I utilised a variety of film and digital SLR and compact cameras, with varying degrees of affection. I loved my old film Pentax SLR and disliked many of the compact cameras. Except Canon, my reliable favourite brand.

When my last digital SLR went to camera heaven, I decided I wanted a lighter smaller camera to take with me on my travels. I chose a Canon EOS200D Mark II twin kit with 18-35mm and 55-250mm lenses, and added a 60mm macro for those close up shots. I recently purchased an Insta360 and am enjoying learning how to use it and edit videos.

My cameras have been hauled around the globe on numerous trips and were widely used during the times I lived abroad. To say I have a lot of photographic memories is an understatement. I often take a trip down memory lane and look at those pictures, remembering old friends, old haunts and times passed. Perhaps I’ll share some one day…

For years, family and friends often commented on how much they like my work and that I should pursue photography further - so here starts my photographic journey. At present, I’m particularly interested in the Art of Photography and broadening my understanding of photography concepts so that I can better capture what I see and feel.

In October 2022, I launched my first website which will go through regular updates as I also enjoy digital design.  In 2022 and 2023, I participated in the Perth Amateur Photographer Exhibition and have taken part in a few make it markets.

For health reasons, I took a hiatus in 2023 and started travelling again in 2024 with trips to South Korea and Japan - stay tuned for updates on those exciting collections.

WORK EXPERIENCE

By day, I’m a full time Finance Officer at Minprovise International but I also have many other interests besides photography that keeps me busy.

I’m part of the Rose and Wattle Dance Group where I call English Country Dancing - if you wish to learn to dance like Jane Austen, we can help with that! Check us out on FACEBOOK.

I’m a Committee Member for the Little Folk Children’s Cancer Charity which fundraises for the Perth Children's Hospital Foundation. Throughout the year, we host Supper Clubs and Concerts featuring folk music and spoken word performers, as well as our annual Folk in the Forest festival - the highlight of our annual calendar, now in its 20th year. Thus far, the charity has raised over $280,000.00 for children's cancer research.

I’m also an avid fan of Korean dramas especially anything starring my favourite Actor Ji Chang Wook.
Check out my 'Ji Chang Wook Australia' Facebook and Instagram pages for his latest news.
